What's inside...
Printed & Marbled Papers
Each pack comes with three sheets of paper, all of which measure about 6"x9." You'll get one sheet of Thai marbled paper in beautiful sunset colors (with pops of metallic gold!) as well as a sheet of handmade mulberry paper from Thailand with screen-printed Tibetan script. Finally, you'll receive a sheet of hand-printed mulberry paper, printed by me* using a vintage woodblock from India with acrylic fabric paint. This design features stylized people, elephants, peacocks, and various flowers and geometric patterns. *A note about my hand-printed papers... many of my blocks are retired from a previous life in textile printing and have worn or missing elements. These prints will not be perfect - there will be lighter areas, small missing bits of the design, etc..., but I think it just gives them more character. |
Ribbons & Trims
Each Happy Pack comes with one foot each of two trims. The colorful ribbon is a jacquard that I selected because of its resemblance to the beautiful textiles I found in Peru, especially in the Cusco area. This is about 2" wide. The second trim comes from India and is a periwinkle blue base with silver stitching and sequins. This ribbon is about 1-1/2" wide. (Note that jacquard ribbons fray where cut, and the sequins will tend to fall off next to the cut line - I cut a bit extra on both of these trims to make sure you get a full, workable 12.") |
Exotic Embellishments
Your pack includes a beautiful coin pendant from the Kuchi tribes in Afghanistan. Each coin has a glass jewel embedded on the surface along with dangling chains. Most of the coins are about 1" in diameter and the entire pendant is about 3 to 3-1/2" long. Use these in mixed media and assemblage, or add it to some handmade jewelry! Also from the Kuchi tribes, you'll get about 6" of beaded cording which is fun to add to mixed media portraits and dimensional work, and can also work for crazy quilting and other textile arts. Finally, you'll get a pair of embroidered stars on velvet from the Hmong people in Thailand. These are fun to add into artwork, textiles, or to accessorize a purse or tablet cover! |
Jeweled Pakistani Pouch
This gorgeous bejeweled pouch was actually the starting point for this pack; I was so thrilled when I found these! They come directly from Pakistan and feature beautiful embroidery and stitched-on acrylic jewels and a cord handle. You can use this as a small purse, or I like to use pouches like these for necessities (mints and other goodies,) and throw them in my purse to keep things organized and easy to find. You can also use them as pen bags, or for other storage, or re-purpose the fabric for another project. The inside has a smaller zipper pocket, and the pouches are nicely padded to protect jewelry or a cell phone. They measure about 7-1/2" wide by about 4-1/4" tall. |
