What's inside...
Patterned & Printed Papers
This pack features three beautiful papers. First, you'll get two screen-printed sheets which each measure around 6"x9" (this may vary as they're cut from handmade sheets which can be irregular.) The blue and gold print is on a lovely piece of Indian cotton rag paper which has great texture and suppleness. You'll also get one 6"x9" sheet of hand-printed paper, printed by me* on a piece of kraft-colored Indian cotton rag paper using acrylic fabric paints. These prints were made using a vintage hand-carved woodblock, also from India. *A note about my hand-printed papers... many of my blocks are retired from a previous life in textile printing and have worn or missing elements. These prints will not be perfect - there will be lighter areas, small missing bits of the design, etc..., but I think it just gives it more character. |
Embellishments & Mini Woodblock Stamp
I'm especially enamored with the embellishments in this pack... first, you'll get a hand-printed hamsa image. This was printed by me using a hand-carved woodblock from my collection onto a thick sheet of cream colored Indian cotton rag paper. I printed with a black fluid acrylic fabric paint, so it's not water-soluble and is ready for you to use paint, watercolor, inks, pastels, colored pencils, or even crayons to add color. Of course, you can always leave it plain! This piece measures around 6"x9" and has torn edges.
I've also included a gorgeous sari patch made with gold thread on organza netting with diamond mirrors and rhinestone and pearl accents. This applique is about 3-1/2" in diameter and can be adhered to a book cover, mixed media panel, etc... with a strong glue. You can also stitch it to the substrate of your choice, add it as an accent to a purse or a textile art project.
Finally, your Happy Pack includes a mini hand-carved woodblock stamp! These are all different designs, but most of them measure about 1" (the block itself is about 1-1/2" thick.) To print with these, you need a paint with a longer open time (I like fluid acrylic fabric paints or Golden OPEN acrylics) or block-printing ink (most are water-soluble when dry, so keep an eye out for that.) You'll want a padded surface of some kind under your substrate - a piece of 1/2" thick craft foam works great. Apply the paint or ink with a brayer and stamp away! I clean with a baby wipe followed by water and a soft brush. Note that woodblocks work best on paper with a lot of give (cardstock generally doesn't work well,) and they're especially nice on fabric.

Embellished Trim & Sari Ribbon
Your Happy Pack will include one foot of the gorgeous gold embellished trim shown here. It's 3/4" wide and stitched with gold thread on organza, accented with teardrop-shaped rhinestones, and has a lovely scalloped edge. I love to use these types of trims as a border on a mixed media panel, as part of a headdress or clothing for a portrait, or inside of shadow boxes or assemblage pieces. A little goes a long way, and it gives you big impact! You'll also get one yard of sari yarn / ribbon from Darn Good Yarn. This is made in India from upcycled saris which are torn into strips and then sewn or tied end to end. This is from the Istanbul Chiffon Ribbon skein and you could get one or more of the colors shown here in your pack. I use this a lot when I make my boho fish and other collage shapes, as well as in a lot of my mixed media work. |
Sari Ribbon Pouches
Of course, no Happy Pack is complete without a fun pouch to use as storage for supplies, or to organize necessities in your purse, to act as a travel pouch for jewelry when you're on the go, or whatever you have in mind! Each pouch is made from sari ribbon sewn together in a beautiful design with a lovely combination of colors and patterns. These are handmade items to the sizing will vary a bit, but they measure about 6-3/4" wide by 4-1/4" tall and have a zipper closure with a black fabric interior lining. |
