"Peking Opera" - Mixed Media Panel

This unique mixed media artwork features layers of collaged images and stenciled prints in the background, including snippets of Chinese characters. The focal point of the piece is a fabulous resin Peking Opera mask of the traditional character CaoBao. This was glazed and accented with patterned chiffon fabric from India, yellow Howlite spike beads, and bronzed brass findings with faux pearls. I highlighted the center section with strips of black velvet trim which was embroidered with gold bullion thread and embellished with rhinestones. I layered on strands of faux pearl and brass chains. Throughout the entire piece I added touches of gold mica.
All paints and mediums used in this piece are artist quality and fade resistant. The panel itself measures 10" wide by 20" tall and 1" deep, and the 3D collage focal point comes out approximately 3/4" from the surface.
