Exotic Orient Deluxe Collage & Embellishment Pack
I love the calligraphy and alphabets of Japan, China, and Korea, as well as the fabulous patterns and motifs prevalent in fabric and artwork. I've tried to capture those ideas with the papers in this pack.
Your pack will have one 8-1/2""x11" sheet of hand-printed rice paper, each sheet printed with my hand-carved, 3-part set of plum blossom stamps to give you a multi-color print! (The inks are acrylic based and permanent.)
Your pack also includes a beautifully textured sheet of vanilla colored Japanese lace paper - approximately 8"x10," one piece of screen printed paper with dragons and flowers that's about 7"x10," and one piece of Korean Hanji paper (about 6"x9.")
The final paper is gorgeous Japanese Chiyogami paper covered with blocks of flowers and calligraphic characters that measures about 6"x7."
Your pack will come with several pieces of ephemera and book text, perfect for collage art, mixed media backgrounds, and art journaling.
You will receive one page from a Chinese calligraphy practice book (about 8"x10,") as well as an 8"x8" sheet of glossy two-sided origami paper with traditional Kimono patterns.
Your pack will also have two pages of Chinese book text, as well as a sheet of gold-foiled Joss paper.
Finally, there's a sheet of screen-printed Japanese paper printed with butterflies on a field of sage green. This measures about 5"x6."
Fabric & Ribbon
One of the first things that comes to mind when thinking of the Far East is definitely fabric! I couldn't resist the quintessential dragon fabric, a jacquard with a gold pattern. You'll get a swatch that's about 6"x9."
For the second fabric, when I was traveling in Mongolia I had the good fortune to find packages of quilting scraps in the State department store in Ulan Bataar. There were gorgeous fabrics with flowers and gold lame that I just loved, so I hunted down some just like it to include in this pack - you'll get a swatch that's navy blue and gold and approximately 6"x9."
Finally, you'll receive a beautiful blue, red, gold, and black jacquard ribbon with a lovely - intricate traditional pattern. Due to the typical fraying of this type of textile, your pack will have 13-14" so that you'll have a full usable foot of trim.
I was excited to find some fun and unique embellishments to include in this pack, including one of the fabulous Beijing Opera masks shown to the right. Each mask is around 2 to 2.5" tall and is made from plaster and resin and then painted.
I've also included a traditional tassel with three coins, a reproduction of an antique Chinese coin (about 1" diameter,) and an adorable painted glass bead depicting one of the cats with the moving arm that you see in windows throughout Chinatown.
Finally, I have a small stash of dies featuring traditional Chinese patterns and have diecut these intricate knot medallions from gold-foiled cardstock (each one measures about 3-3/4" x 3-3/4.")
