Get ready to stamp and stencil, collage, and make marks as we incorporate fun and easy new techniques to hide and reveal elements as we build the layers in our mixed media art projects.
Picture
When we're done, we'll have richly patterned and layered artwork that's ready to frame along with several new tools for your mixed media technique toolbox.

  • Upon registration and payment (handled by Stampers Grove,) you will receive a link to join our private Facebook group.
  • Join in, meet, and interact with other students.
  • The live 2 hour class will be taught through a Facebook Live video in our private classroom.
  • Work along with me and ask questions via posts and comments.
  • Learn fun and easy masking and layering techniques and explore different ways to use rubber stamps and stencils
  • Videos, questions, comments, and projects are available indefinitely. You can re-watch later - as often as you'd like (the group will be open for 6 months after class.)
  • Share photos of your in-progress and finished projects for feedback from me and other class members.

Tools:
  • Rubber stamps - a variety of smaller images and / or textures. (I'll be using my stamps from PaperArtsy, but you can use whatever you have or like.)
  • Optional - Stencils to help create your focal shapes (my fish sample used my Boho Fish stencil but the circle was done freehand.) You may also want stencils and / or stamps to add leaves, flowers, or other designs along the edges - could also be drawn freehand.
    • I'll be using my StencilGirl stencils, but you can use any designs or brands you like.
  • Acrylic stamp blocks if using unmounted stamps
  • Scissors
  • Paint brushes
    • I'll be using a 1/2" to 1" flat and / or angle brush
  • Optional - Paper Trimmer or other tools to cut / tear your background papers to size.
  • Optional - Heat gun (for drying paint quickly)
  • Optional - Blender brushes or sponges to apply ink through stencils

Adhesives:
  • Matte or collage medium
  • Optional - Washi tape (I'll use a few different rolls / patterns)
  • Optional - White glue like Tacky Glue or PVA (depending on the paper you use, you may need a strong glue to adhere layers together. Cotton rag needs something strong. Cardstock would be okay with a tape runner or maybe even a glue stick.)
Paper & Substrates:
  • 2 - 12" x 12" pieces of heavy cardstock, watercolor paper, ect... in 2 colors (I used white and gray cotton rag paper, but type of paper and colors are up to you.)
    • You can also us an art journal or a different size
  • 1 - 12" x 12" piece of patterned paper or similar
  • A selection of patterned papers, gelli prints, collage paper, etc...
  • Optional - 1-2 pieces of white cardstock for stamping / stenciling (you can also work directly on your background.)

Inks, Paints, Pens, etc...:
  • 2-3 colors Acrylic paint (I'll be using PaperArtsy Fresco Acrylic paints.)
  • Ink pads (I'll be using Black and Sepia Archival Inks and Versafine Clair pigment ink.)
  • Optional - A black marker or paint pen for outlining (I'll be using POSCA pens and / or a Permapaque marker.)
  • Optional - Pens for journaling and mark making (I use black, white, and gold.)
  • Optional - Pens, markers, and / or colored pencils for coloring (you can use a mix of types or whatever you have or nothing at all, but I'll be using colored pencils.)
    • If you use colored pencils, I also recommend a blending pencil.

Miscellaneous:
  • Baby wipes
  • Paper towels

Stampers Grove ships worldwide - I've ordered from them and the shipping was fast (just about a week from Scotland to Virginia!) and reasonably priced. Plus I was able to get some cool supplies that are hard to find in the States.

Technical Requirements:
  • You must have a Facebook account - it's the only way we can admit you to the private Facebook classroom
  • Your computer or device should be capable of viewing video with a strong enough internet connection to stream the lesson
  • Check ahead of time to ensure that you can hear and see videos on Facebook (you usually need to both click into a live video and unmute it in order to hear and read and add comments.)
  • I highly recommend that if you don't already have it, that you download the Facebook app on your phone or device and get logged in and set up. This will make it so you can easily take in-progress photos to post for feedback directly from the app.
Administrative Details & Class Policies:
  • Unfortunately, because this is an online class where you can view the content and have full access even if you miss the livestream (which will be archived in the group,) there are no cancellations or refunds.
  • Since this is an online class, we just want to make sure it's clear that you'll be responsible for providing all of your own supplies (please see the supply list above.) I've tried to give lots of options and alternatives so that you can pull from your stash wherever possible. Stampers Grove also has many of the supplies available in their shop so if you have something you need or see something that you want to try, I hope you'll help support the store. (And contact the shop if you need something that isn't linked - they may have it!)
FAQ:
Q: How long will the Facebook group be available after the Live video is over?
A: The group will remain open for you to re-watch the videos and ask questions for 6 months after class. All videos and posts will be archived and available during that time.

Q: Can I register after the live class is over?
A: As of right now, we plan to close registration shortly before the official class and you must be registered to access the group, so if you're interested, make sure to sign up before it starts. You can always watch later if you can't join live.

Q: When will I get access to the Facebook group?
A: Please allow 24-48 hours for Stampers Grove to process your registration and send you a group invitation. (Please contact the shop directly with any questions or difficulties in accessing the group.)
