These fantastic little woodblock stamps are the perfect size for smaller projects, or to create repeating backgrounds in art journals and other mixed media projects. Each one of these blocks was hand-carved by artisans in India, so there will be slight variations in size, design, and other details.
Each woodblock measures about 1" long (and the stamps themselves are around 1" thick,) although this varies by design - some are about 1-1/4" and some are just under, but they're all pretty similarly sized.
When printing with woodblock stamps, they work best if you use them with a more flexible substrate like fabric, mulberry paper, etc... I don't have good luck with cardstock, but if you spritz your stiffer papers with water and blot them mostly dry with a towel, that can help to soften the fibers and make for easier stamping. It also works best if you put a piece of foam underneath - 1/2" craft foam will work great! I usually print with acrylic paints that have some kind of retarding medium added - Golden OPEN acrylics with a touch of OPEN medium work very well, and block printing inks are great too (although many of them are water soluble, so double check if you're using your stamped images in collage or other applications where you'll be coating it with a wet medium!)
