These beautiful hand-carved woodblocks from India are both functional and decorative. Print with them to make your own patterned papers and block-printed fabric, and then display them when you're finished - each block is handmade and a piece of art in its own right!

I love to use these gorgeous blocks to print my own custom papers. They work best on fabric or papers that are more fibrous, like mulberry or rice papers. I use them with fluid acrylic paints for fabric - you can buy them pre-mixed or I get a fabric medium and mix it with my acrylic paints. Apply the paint to the block with a soft brayer, making sure that you don't add too much - if it's gloppy, it will get into the spaces of the block and give you blobs in your prints. I clean with a soft brush and soap and water. In most cases, once cleaned the white lines of the block are visible again and you can display the woodblocks as art when they're not in use! For more tips and tricks on using and caring for your woodblocks, check out my video to the right. (It's about 18 minutes and covers the printing surface, paper, paint, printing, and cleaning.)

Note that as these are each carved by hand, there may be small differences between the photos and the block you receive. Scroll down to see measurements and details for each design.
