I typically use tapestry needles for book binding projects. The eye is the perfect size to use with waxed linen thread and the tips aren't as sharp as regular needles, minimizing ouchies as you stitch your books. They're also great if you're using a heavier weight embroidery floss (like a size 5 perle.) Tulip are excellent quality, and you'll get two needles that come in a handy corked tube to keep them safe when not in use.
