Metallic threads by Kreinik are beautiful for embellishing and adding metallic stitching to your textile art as well as for crafting and mixed media art. You can sew with them, wrap them, glue, or lace them. The options are endless!
It's no secret that I love a metallic thread... I sew with them, glue them into art journals, wrap them around dimensional and assemblage pieces, and I've even worked them into mixed media jewelry. Kreinik threads are some of my favorites - they're a great quality with a large variety of types and colors of thread.
First, you can buy them by the spool. They have many, many options available on the market, but since I pick and choose for my little shop, I decided to start small. I love the ombre, variegated colors in particular. The spools have a loosely twisted 8-ply thread that gives you great texture and visual interest for embroidery, slow stitching, knitting, weaving, wrapping, and more.
Second is my favorite - I discovered these Bags 'O Bits a while ago and have added to my stash when I find them, because each package is totally different. They all include lots of different colors and styles of threads and you can find anything from pieces just a few inches long to what seem like entire spools' worth of thread that have unraveled and made their way into these little grab bags. Look at the photo of the unpackaged thread for an idea of the types and proportions that you may get in yours, but again, each one is different. And the packages hold more than you think when you first see them!
