Mini Prills from USArtQuest are very small round shapes that can be used to embellish all types of projects from flower centers to snow. Use them you can create colorful texture and dimension on handmade cards and tags, scrapbook layouts, art journaling and mixed media projects, and more.
I got to use Mini Prills several years ago as part of a blog hop and I was instantly enthralled... I'd never seen anything like them and I loved them! One of my favorite things, besides the awesome colors, is the fact that they aren't all the same size. I love the variety and how not having them all uniform makes it seem more natural when I use them.
Technical details: Mini Prills are made in the USA from calcium carbonate and they're non-toxic. Each jar has a screw on lid and is 3 grams.
Fun details: Mini Prills are tiny, colorful little balls of pure textural happiness. While I quite enjoy just looking at them or opening the lid and stirring them around, they're also pretty fun to use in your projects! You can accent flower centers, put them in the middle of openings in your mixed media and assemblage projects to get a textural filler. They can accents stamped and stenciled images or you can glue them down and paint over them! (Although it's hard for me to hide those fun colors.) Or glue a few of them onto the surface and then use paint to emulate rust - the texture gives you a great aged look.
One of my favorite ways to use them is to mix them into your mediums... you can add them to fluid or gel mediums to get texture / bead gels - mix and spread them with a palette knife for hours (or at least minutes) of fun. Use that palette knife to spread them through a stencil (be sure to clean it after.) You can also mix them into molding paste for a totally different look (try dying your molding paste with paint first!) You can also sprinkle them onto wet gels and pastes to get texture only on the surface.
There really are unlimited options for how to use these and I hope you love them as much as I do!
