These one-of-a-kind Boho Modern Monocle Necklaces combine fashion and function. Each necklace features beautiful glass beads including handblown and trade beads as well as a 5x power magnifying glass on a 48" chain.
I often wear reading glasses over my contacts when I'm working on the computer, on my devices, or reading a book. I have pairs of them in all different colors all over my apartment and I always have a pair in my purse, but I found myself getting frustrated by having to pull them out just to read a label in the grocery store or the details for an entrée on a restaurant menu... if only there was a quick and easy way to just read that one thing. I recalled how ladies 100-200 years ago had monocles - wouldn't that be handy? So I looked around and realized that they're a thing again! Of course, the ones I found online were generally plain, not really my style, and often quite expensive. Enter... the Boho Beaded Modern Monocle.
Each of these necklaces is one-of-a-kind. They come on a gold (brass) or silvered brass base with a 5X power magnifying glass as the actual monocle part of the necklace. They're all different, but the chains are approximately 44" - 48" in length and the drop on the pendant is 6-1/2" to 7-1/2." They're fairly long, but through trial and error with the necklaces I made for myself, I found this to be my preferred length. Short enough that it isn't as likely to get in the way or get caught on anything, but long enough to easily lift it to my eye with plenty of slack in the chain.
For the beading, I use all metal findings - either brass or silvered brass. The beads are a mix of handblown beads purchased from glass artists, trade beads and / or recycled African glass beads, Indian glass beads, Czech glass, and more. I often mix in semi-precious gemstone beads as well... whatever works for the look I'm trying to achieve.
I love having something that's fun, functional, and beautiful to wear and use and I hope you love them too.
