This set of Handmade Metallic Crayons comes with a set of eight fish-shaped crayons. They have lovely, saturated colors with a nice metallic sheen and great blendability. Use them for mixed media and papercrafting projects, frottage, and more.
I love making my own crayons - it allows me to control the ingredients and get a nice, soft crayon with the colors I want. Plus, I can make them in any shape! This set features all metallic pigments in the shape of a fish. You get eight crayons in eight lovely metallic shades and they come packed in a plastic storage case with a flip-top lid that snaps closed. (It will come with some paper packing inside to keep the crayons from moving and try and prevent breakage during shipping.)
The crayons are made from food grade soy and carnauba wax plus metallic pigments. Each crayon is approximately 2" long by a bit over 1/2" at the widest point. The crayons work best if you rub onto your substrate from the top and they can be blended with your finger. I use them like an oil pastel. These aren't meant for detail work, but are great for frottage (put something textured under your paper and lightly rub over top with the crayon to pick up the texture.) They're also wonderful for abstract shapes, marks, and coloring larger areas and have good pigmentation and blendability.
In this image I've lined up the crayons with the swatch card so that you can see which colors are which as well as what the crayon marks look like both blended and unblended. (I did the swatch on the smoother side of a piece of cold press watercolor paper.)
