This mixed media necklace combines fabric, beads, coins, and brass findings for a one-of-a-kind statement choker necklace. From the handmade fabric bead to the glass fish at the tip of the pendant, it's sure to start conversations wherever you go!

I started making mixed media jewelry several years ago and I tend to gravitate towards statement jewelry in general, so this piece is something I would personally wear! It was created as a potential companion piece for a feature article in the Winter 2022 issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry magazine and uses the same techniques I shared in my Make a Statement live online class.
This particular necklace features one of my handmade fabric "obi" beads, a pendant tray filled with Czech glass beads and semi-precious gemstone chips (including some pyrite sand,) and is toped with a replica Chinese coin and a vintage glass flower bead. The other components of the necklace feature African recycled glass, Dogon trade beads (also referred to as Dutch Donuts,) and glass Ashanti beads. Dangling from the pendant are an Indonesian glass bead and a domestic glass fish. The "chain" is recycled sari silk with an antique brass toggle closure.
