These fabulous industrial textile bobbins are vintage from the 1960s. These bobbins are perfect for a variety of craft projects, including making your own paint and mark making brushes. You can also use them in assemblage artwork, as a vase, and more.
These fantastic vintage (from the 1960s) bobbins were once used in industrial textile mills. I've used them to make my own mark making brushes, you could make a paint brush, or I also have an assemblage / sculptural piece in progress that uses one of these as part of the base. The large end is fairly flat and has a hole that at least technically goes all the way through, but you may need to widen the hole on the small end in order to get a wire or other material to pass through. You could also use these in a variety of other craft and assemblage projects... they would be fantastic in a line or grouping inserted into a base and used as vases! The more you think about it, the more options there are.
All of the "small" bobbins are fairly close to the same size and have the same metal rings and wrapping on the shaft. The "large" bobbins vary a bit more in size and color. Most have indented rings along the shaft but no metal wrapping. I've given the approximate diameter at the large end and the length of the shortest of the large bobbins in the size selection.
