Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes by Creative Expressions can be used in a variety of ways, from traditional gilding techniques to use as inclusions in papers and resins, to layering and application with adhesives. They're perfect for mixed media, handmade cards, home decor, and more.
I love to use gilding flakes in my mixed media work and these Shimmer Flakes are a personal favorite because of the gorgeous color combos. Each 100mL jar has tons of flakes and will last for a long time. I even take these to some of my classes and it still takes a while before they start to look empty!
Creative Expressions, the company who makes them, has provided some great tips for ways that you can use them:
1. They can be layered using glue or double-sided tape.
2. If you're using the Cosmic Shimmer Flake & Glitter glue (or any of the white gilding glues,) apply the glue where you want it on your project and wait for glue to dry (when it's dry it will be clear.) The glue will remain tacky, so just add the flakes and pat down and then use a dry brush or sponge to gently rub off the excess flakes. The same technique can be used with double-sided tape.
3. Add gilding glue to a stamp, stamp image on a project and cover the stamped image with gilding flakes. Use a dry brush to remove the excess and reveal the image. Wash the stamp immediately in warm water.
