These African shaman medicine stick pendants are hand-carved and are made from cow bone. They're ideal as necklace pendants either on their own or as part of a statement necklace or they make beautiful additions to mixed media and assemblage artwork.
I fell in love with these hand-carved shaman medicine stick pendants the first time I saw them many years ago. You can find them in different shapes and sizes, but most have some variation of the circle motif found here. Sold individually, each pendant is a bit different but they measure between 3-3/4" and 4" (90-100mm) long by about 7/8" wide (~22mm.) There's a drilled hole at the top that's about 2mm in diameter.
Intended as protection from the evil eye, medicine sticks are used by the shaman of the tribe for prophecy and healing.
