The WOW! Ancient Embossing Powder Trio inspired by Gwen Lafleur (me!) features three colors, Vintage Turquoise, Tarnished Brass, and Turkish Coffee. These were inspired by my travels through Asia and feature both semi-translucent and opaque powders perfect for handmade cards and tags, scrapbooking, art journaling, and more.
This trio of powders was inspired by my travels in the Middle East, particularly in Turkey - a fascinating country which, among many other things, is famous for Turkish Coffee. This beverage is known for its thick consistency, deep dark color, strength, and rich flavor and aroma. Its corresponding embossing powder embraces those traits with an added metallic shimmer, making the color even richer.
While Turquoise was originally mined in Persia, it was first brought to Europe via Turkey, forever linking the country with its namesake gemstone. Older turquoise has a tendency to be a bit greener, and this powder has hints in that direction that are highlighted if you stamp with green ink before embossing. True turquoise is often characterized by its matrix; darker veins (usually gold colored) that contrast beautifully with the blue-green. I made sure to highlight that characteristic with metallic gold flecks throughout the powder.
This Trio is rounded out with a lovely Tarnished Brass - a metallic brass flecked with blacks and browns to give it a more aged look. This was inspired by the antique brass Turkish and Arabian coffee pots, incense burners and décor, as well as beads which are common throughout this part of the world.
