Christmas Beads are trade beads from Africa that make beautiful spacers in your hand-beaded jewelry. They're also fantastic for beaded textile work, mixed media artwork, and more. They come by the strand - each strand is different and measures ~32-38."
I have adored these bright, beautifully colored trade beads since I first encountered them years ago. They're mostly glass with a plastic spacer bead here and there on the strands. They are African trade beads that were originally made in southern Spain, Venice, or Czechoslovakia. These beads were kept by heirlooms by tribe members for years - even generations. Now, people in Nigeria and Ghana gather them one bead at a time and restring them into the types of strands that you see here. You can use them to add to your own jewelry, to make beaded textile pieces, or for use in mixed media artwork.
Strand lengths may vary - they're generally between 32 and 38 inches. The main photo shows multiple strands, but please note that the strands are priced and sold individually, as shown in the 2nd and 3rd photos. Each one is different is unique and may vary slightly from what you see here, but all of them include the same types of beads and colors (as you can tell by looking at them all piled together.) The beads on each strand are mostly 4 to 6 mm in diameter - they're quite small and each strand has over 100 beads.
