Turkmen & Kuchi Jewelry Parts
These fantastic grab bags of Turkmen jewelry parts are the perfect mix of odds and ends to add into your dimensional mixed media work. Or, you can fashion an entirely new piece of jewelry from the different components!
I buy these pieces in bulk lots of broken jewelry direct from suppliers in the Middle East. What I get in my shipments varies, but I always receive lots of coins, buttons, cool hooks, and embossed metal pieces meant to be sewn onto clothing, but which look fabulous in artwork (especially if you prime them and add a patina!) Most of the jewelry is used and vintage - some of the pieces have a natural patina, some are missing jewels or have broken bits, but they have a ton of character and add a fabulous exotic flair to your artwork!
Each grab bag of Turkmen jewelry parts includes an ounce of mixed pieces. Included in that will be what I consider to be an exceptionally cool piece like a Kuchi coin pendant or a small tribal teardrop pendant, etc... See the sample photos for an idea of what you would receive and the relative size of the assortment. All of the used / vintage pieces have been sorted and cleaned with vinegar and baking soda to remove dirt and residue from their travels across the world and any previous use. (Note that this cleaning process also accelerates any oxidation that has started, which I personally love!)
I like to use these pieces layered on top of each other for a dimensional element in my work that has a bit of global eclectic flair.
