I fell in love with these gorgeous embroidered butterflies the moment I saw them. The brightly colored embroidery and the modern design are so appealing! These can be used as traditional appliques on clothing and accessories, or you can add them to a journal cover, make them the focal point of a mixed media panel, add them to an art quilt, and more!
These appliques are stitched on a black organza background with black piping around the edges. I can picture adding beads to these before putting them on an art quilt, adding them to my mixed media artwork, sewing them onto a handmade iPad pouch or a purse, or using them on top of a collaged background. So many options!
These appliques do not come with any adhesive on the back. Because they're sheer in places, I use a strong fabric glue behind the embroidered areas. You can also use a fusible webbing or a product like Heat 'n Bond to fuse them with fabric (although be careful of using high heat with this fabric - it has enough of a sheen to make me think it could melt at high temps.)

The large butterfly appliques are my favorites - my jaw dropped when I saw them for the first time! They're quite large - at about 11" across and just over 7" tall at the widest points, they're definitely perfect for large-scale projects.
