This fabulous beaded Kuchi trim comes from tribes in Pakistan and Afghanistan and is used to add embellished fringe to patches, clothing, and handbags. Use it in your own textile art projects, or add it to mixed media panels and assemblage pieces.
I absolutely love the beaded fringe on my vintage Kuchi medallions, so when I found a source to buy the trim that's used to make these, I jumped at the chance to order it for the store! I buy this by weight, so the colors and styles that I get are totally random. I get a lot of white, yellow, and blue, and much less of the other colors (so if you've got your eye on one of the others, grab it while you can!)

Notes about this product:
- At least half of what I receive is vintage - these pieces have been removed from other fabric, so you may have a few random threads, as well as loose threads and beads on your piece. Personally, I think this is part of the charm!
- These pieces come in varying styles and colors of ribbon, so you are choosing the color of the bead - I'll try and keep it consistent, but your order may have different colors for the cloth base and thread. Note that the exact shade and size of the beads themselves can also vary.
- The trim also comes in different lengths - some are just a few inches long, some are nearly a yard. I'll try and give you a continuous piece, but you may get several different sizes. The nice thing about these, however, is that the nature of the trim makes it so you can put several pieces next to each other without seeing a gap!
- Due to how I receive the product, these are sold by the ounce. Here you can see what an ounce looks like (this will vary based on the size / weight of the beads, but this is a good representation.)
I love to use this trim to edge a cradled panel, or to accent textile projects like crazy quilts, handmade bags and pouches, etc... You could also use it to make jewelry! It's also fun to add to clothing and headdresses on mixed media portraits, or anything else where you want a bit of dimensional - and slightly exotic - texture!
