This stunning ribbon is made from pieces of embellished saris that have been sewn together and then bordered with gold fabric. Filled with intricate embroidery, jewels, and sequins, this trim adds the perfect touch of exotic luxury to art quilts and textile projects, mixed media assemblage art, and much more.
These gorgeous trims are made from pieces of vintage embellished saris that have been sewn together to make a large piece of fabric and then cut into strips. The strips are then set onto a backing and the edges are wrapped with gold fabric to turn them into a one-of-a-kind ribbon. Each section of this trim is unique - no two pieces will be the same. See the sample photos below for an idea of the types of fabrics that may come in your piece. The colors are fairly consistent throughout each roll and all of the pieces are heavily embellished with embroidery, jewels, sequins, and gold bullion threads.
Although this ribbon is more expensive than most of my trims, you need very little to make a big impact on your project! Try adding just a piece into the layers of a mixed media panel or assemblage piece, cut out sections for use in an art quilt or a crazy quilt, or add an exotic and extravagant border to a tablet sleeve, purse, or other accessories.
The Pink/Red/Green/Black trim is approximately 3" wide, and the Jewel Tone trim is about 2-3/8" wide. I cut to order, so if you order 3 feet, it will come in a continuous one-yard length.
