ShinHan Professional Korean Color is ShinHan Art's authentic creation formulated from decades of experience and research into Korea’s traditional color palette. Although designed to be painted on ‘hanji’ (traditional Korean paper handmade from the paper mulberry shrub,) this gorgeous and vibrant hybrid watercolor can be used on a variety of papers and other substrates.
Winter Shipping / Air Freight Shipping Note
The extreme cold weather and / or traveling by air during shipping may cause one or more of the tubes to burst. I check every package prior to shipping to ensure that all of the tubes are in perfect condition, but I cannot be held responsible for any weather or travel-related damage... this is normal for ALL paints that are shipped in cold weather or by air and all paints are sold with the expectation that this is a risk for this, especially during Winter.
-------------
ShinHan Professional Korean Color is a stunning hybrid watercolor paint (it's like a cross between gouache and watercolor, so more transparent than gouache, but more opaque and very vibrant compared to traditional watercolor as it's formulated with refined gelatin as opposed to gum arabic.) These are by far the most used paints in my watercolor collection. I love the saturated colors and how I can build rich and beautiful images but they still have all the characteristics of watercolor.
Note that at first, you may just get a clear-ish medium coming out of the tubes. Every brand of tubed watercolor paint I've ever used, from ShinHan to Daniel Smith to Schminke, can have some settling and separation of the pigments and mediums between production and use by the end consumer. I find that if you massage the tubes a bit - with the caps on, you can work the mediums and pigments back together. If you do this prior to putting the paint into pans, you may find that you need to do it again when it's time to refill. This is normal and I don't do returns or refunds for this characteristic of the paint.
These were designed to be painted on rice or mulberry paper (and you can do that by mixing these with ShinHan Professional Painting Glue) or you can use them on watercolor paper, cardstock, and many other papers and surfaces. The vividness of each color reflects ShinHan's use of only the highest quality pigments available. This unique set of traditional, authentic Korean colors provides a wonderful opportunity for artists to incorporate Far-Eastern color tones.
Here are a few examples of some watercolor paintings I've done using ShinHan Professional Korean Color (I have sets A and B.)
