These beautiful square Khadi Paper sketchbooks are made from handmade Indian cotton rag paper. The artist quality pages are perfect for drawing, watercolor, painting, and mixed media.
I absolutely adore the feel and texture of cotton rag paper - it's handmade in India from entirely upcycled materials. In this case... you guessed it, cotton! The fabric frequently comes from tee-shirts and other discarded clothing. These particular books are made by Khadi Papers and run-off water from the factory is pH neutral and used to irrigate an organic Mango farm in India!
The papers themselves are made from 100% long-fiber cotton rag - they're acid free, and they've been internally sized with neutral pH sizing. They have a medium surface, and the torn, deckled-edged paper is a nice weight at 150 gsm. The books measure either 8"x8" (20cmx20cm) or 6"x6" (15.24cm x 15.24 cm) and are paperback bound with gray end papers at the front and back and each have 30 pages.
I love this paper because of its lovely texture and how well it stands up to collage and acrylic paints and I use it to make almost all of my art journals. It's a fabulous surface for drawing and watercolor as well. I've also used it with chalk pastels - the paper can start to pill a bit if you really work the colors a lot, but my results were still very good.
