French Guipre fabric has beautifully embroidered and embellished elements on tulle. These sampler packs include four pieces perfect for use in art quilts, textile arts, mixed media, and more.
French Guipre fabric is traditionally used to make wedding dresses in Nigeria. I love the intricately embroidered and embellished elements on these fabrics - usually stitched onto a tulle background. I cut them out and use them like appliques or other embellishments in my textile arts and mixed media projects. I either stitch the pieces, use a heat bond (like Mistifuse,) or I simply adhere them with a fabric glue like Sobo (or sometimes even matte medium, although that will darken and stiffen the cloth, which may be an effect you want.)
French Guipre is usually only sold in 5-yard bolts, which is how I get it. I've cut samples out of some of the different fabrics in my stash and assembled these themed packs, each of which includes plenty of elements for use on multiple projects, art quilts, and more.
***Please note! Because of the nature of these fabrics, each pack may contain different sized pieces (although roughly the same or larger than what's shown here.) You may also have different embroidered or embellished images in your pack. These fabrics are not all uniform in pattern, so there are different (but similar) designs depending on where on the fabric it was before it was cut. For instance, you may have one piece that has 2 very large sequined flowers instead of 3-4 smaller ones.
