These watercolor or gouache paint sets from Royal & Langnickel are great starter sets for anyone who wants to start using watercolor or gouache. These tube paints have a good transparency and tinting strength and each package contains twenty-four 21ml tubes of paints in assorted colors.
After it These 24-count paint sets are great starter sets for anyone who wants to get into watercolor or gouache without making a major investment first. The tubes provide great versatility - you can use the paints straight from the tube for color consistency and vibrancy, or you can squeeze a little onto a palette (or even an old dinner plate!) and let the dots dry overnight and then they're ready to go as a mini palette.
Both sets contain 24 - 21mL tubes of paint (see below for colors included.)
Watercolor set details: Great transparency and mixing characteristics with good tinting strength. Conforms to ASTM D-4236. Set includes: black, burnt sienna, burnt umber, crimson red lake, deep green, lemon yellow, Prussian blue, sap green, vermilion, violet, white, yellow ochre, ultramarine blue, rose orange yellow, cerulean blue, green pale, phthalo green, scarlet, cobalt blue, raw umber and mauve.
Gouache set details: Great opacity and reflective characteristics with a smooth, full body and uniform consistency. Conforms to ASTM D-4236. Set includes: burnt sienna, cerulean blue, crimson red lake, green pale, lamp black, lemon yellow, mauve, Prussian blue, titanium white, vermilion, viridian, yellow ochre, medium yellow, white, ultramarine blue, rose, burnt umber, scarlet, cobalt blue, orange red, deep green, orange yellow and medium green.
In the sample below you can see how I used some of the Royal & Langnickel gouache straight from the tube and mixed with just a bit of water on my palette and then painted on black paper. I only used one coat, but just that single layer was nice and opaque with rich, vibrant colors. After the paint dried, I simply outlined and added details with a Uniball Signo white gel pen.
