I love to use black as a substrate in my work... be it black gesso, paper, illustration board, or other surfaces. I love how the dark background really intensifies the vibrance of the colors on top. I also love the contrast of the bright colors with the black background. This paper pairs beautifully with white chalk pastel pencils, colored oil or chalk pastels, colored pencils, and other lightweight opaque media.
