I'm excited to share that I'm the February 2021 designer for StencilClub by StencilGirl! My Feathered Tribe collection of stencils is available exclusively to members of StencilClub. It comes with three stencils - a 9" x 12" with three birds perched on branches with flowers and leaves, a 6" x 6" stencil with three funky patterned feathers, and a 4" x 4" stencil with four different patterns in a grid with arrows. As a lifelong bird lover, (inherited from my mother and her parents,) I love to incorporate birds in my artwork. For this set of stencils I paired them with global and tribal influences from my travels - both real and imaginary. You can check out my introductory video to learn more about the inspiration behind each stencil and see some of the samples I created with them (also shown in photos below.) This collection is only available to members of StencilClub, but if you join before February 15th then you'll start your membership with this set (and also have the ability to purchase any previous set - more than 10 years' worth!) And while I think it's one of the greatest deals around with fantastic stencils from different designers every month, membership is always month to month - you can cancel for months you know you won't use and join again for the ones you want, or just stick around indefinitely! There's also a fantastic private Facebook group with lots of ideas, swaps and collaborative projects, and fun tips and support. As a member of StencilClub you'll get all three stencils plus an accompanying project with a video lesson, a downloadable PDF and printable, and 20% off regular stencils from StencilGirl. All of that for just $25 a month! For this month's collection, my video shows you an easy way to make painted collages using stencils. Here you can see the samples for the project and accompanying lesson: I've also been having a blast working on other projects with my new stencil designs. First and most simple of the bunch, I made a background that shows how the 4" x 4" stencil can be rotated and repeated for a cool patterned design. Next I used bits and pieces of each of the three stencils to make size 3" x 3" mini collages. I really like how you can get so many looks by using only a part of the stencils. Lastly, and probably my favorite so far, I used the small songbird design from the top of the 9" x 12" stencil as an embroidery pattern. I embroidered it and added some seed beads, then stitched it into a nature-themed artist book that I'm working on. I'm looking forward to continuing to use these in my work as well as seeing and learning from what club members do with these.
If you're not already a member of StencilClub but want to get your hands on this set (along with the video class, PDF, and printable that come with it,) head on over to StencilGirl - make sure to sign up before February 15th to start your membership with this set. (And if you can't join now but want to later, once you're a member you always have the ability to purchase past sets.)

Things have been busy lately with lots of new product announcements, new online classes, and other goings on, so today is a quick combo post to share info on two of my upcoming live online workshops along with a new free mixed media tutorial. First up... I'm up today with my quarterly Paint & Texture column on the StencilGirl blog and this month I'm sharing a few ways that you can make and use acrylic skins with stencils in your art journal (or mixed media, scrapbook layouts, and lots more.) I'll share the steps for creating the bulk of the art journal page shown here. Head on over and check it out! Products from this tutorial... I've been incredibly busy putting together and teaching live online workshops all year, and I still have a few more coming before we close out 2020. MASKquerade is an online class packed full of fun and easy mixed media ideas to add to your techniques toolbox. We'll stamp, stencil, collage, and make marks to hide and reveal elements as we build the layers in our mixed media projects. Class is on Saturday, October 24th at 11am eastern time (3pm GMT) and is being held in partnership with Stampers Grove in Scotland. (If you can't make it live, the class will be recorded and archived in the group to watch and re-watch later.) Flip Art Folio is an online class where we'll make a handmade folio with pieces of art nested inside to form a layered flip-book. We'll mix paper, fabric, and more to create a beautiful hardbound folder to display, tuck in a bookshelf, of give as a gift. Class is on Saturday, November 7th at 1pm eastern (5pm GMT) with a pre-class video about a week before. Both video sessions will be recorded and archived in the group, but you must be registered before class begins in order to participate. This workshop is in partnership with Artistic Artifacts in Alexandria, Virginia. And save the date! I have a second class with Artistic Artifacts, "Ornaments & Amulets," which will be held on Saturday, December 5th. More details and registration coming soon. One last quick note... my latest stamp release from PaperArtsy is now in stock and available in the shop!
My newest online workshop, Interactive ATCs, is now up and open for registration! This live 2-hour online class, held in partnership with Scrapbooking Fairies in Alberta, Canada, will take place live in a private Facebook group on Saturday, August 22. We'll turn your traditional Artist Trading Cards into interactive artwork that can also be used in art journals and more as we mix stamps and stencils with paint, collage, and mark marking for a layered background and embellishments. The class also includes downloadable patterns and hand-drawn labels. (Or go straight to registration)
I'm excited to share that my latest online class, Patchwork Pages, is now open for registration! In this 2-hour class, being held in partnership with The Artistic Stamper in the UK, we'll mix collage, stamping, and mark making to create patched-up layers of texture, pattern, and color. Our project will be an art journal page or mixed media piece, like the ones in the samples, with a few page components left over for use in future projects. Or, take me straight to registration
It's time to tap into your inner child... mixed media style. My latest workshop, "Mixed Media Menagerie," brings whimsical creatures, layers and texture, mark making, and more together into a fun and interactive handmade art journal. The class is being held in partnership with Everything Scrapbook & Stamps in West Palm Beach, Florida and the live portion of the workshop will be held on June 27th from 1-3:30pm eastern time. In addition to the scheduled live, there will be one more video in the group for a total of more than 4 hours of video. Plus tutorials, patterns, a fun marbled paper technique, and more. (Or go straight to the shop to register now.)
I'm excited to announce my latest live online workshop, "Circle Play," in partnership with Stampers Grove in Scotland. In this live, 2-hour online class we'll mix collage, monoprinting, stamping, and mark making to turn circular stamps into fabulous flowers or other creations. We'll start with a layered background and then combine stamps, mark making, and collage to turn ordinary circles into a delightful mixed media garden. You might be interested in...
I hinted yesterday in my post announcing my latest rubber stamp release with PaperArtsy, and now for the big reveal... I'm teaching an all new live online class, in partnership with Papercraft Clubhouse in Westbrook, CT, featuring my new EGL09 stamp set (or the faces, motifs, or images of your choice.) Pocketful of People will combine stamps and stencils, painted papers, pens and markers, and heat embossing to make fantastical art dolls that live together in a pocket in your art journal or another substrate of your choice. (Or just make the art dolls and skip the pocket!) In our private Pocketful of People Facebook classroom, I'll share ideas for alternative options for faces - other stamps and images, as well as ideas for turning the pieces into something else if you prefer not to make art dolls. They can also be totems or even a uniquely whimsical Pocketful of Posies. The main class is taught during a 2-1/2 hour Facebook Live in a private group, but it also includes exclusive downloads, an additional live video and demo from me where I'll discuss shape and form in choosing your images as well as ideas for coloring and preparing art parts for the class. (There's some homework, so make sure you join early to get ready!) Class is only $40 and you end up with more than 3 hours of live demo time; more than you get in a regular full day in-person workshop. You also get a coupon from Papercraft Clubhouse and the online forum for sharing and questions - students in my previous live online classes have been pleasantly surprised and very much enjoyed the interaction and ability to see and share with each other as well as with me.
Read all of the details and see lots more photos of my Pocketful of People - I hope to see many of you there! My latest live online class is now up and open for registration. "Stick, Stamp, Paint." is a fun 2-hour mini workshop hosted in partnership with Country View Crafts in the UK. The class, which is in a private Facebook group, will be live on June 6, 2020 from 1-3pm London time (8-10am Eastern in the USA.) We'll use inks, rubber stamps, collage, paints, and mark making to create layered mixed media artwork featuring a variety of fun techniques. I hope to see some of you there! Or, you can register now.
