"On the Other Side" is an original piece of boho / tribal style mixed media artwork on a 6"x6"x1" cradled birch panel. The background is full of color and texture and has been painted, stenciled, embossed, and then painted some more and is finished with very light touches of glitter to contrast with the aged, grungy looking appearance. You can see from the photos that the sides of the piece are also all finished with the same texture and painting as the background, so it's ready to hang or be displayed on a table easel.
The piece has been embellished with pieces of vintage jewelry from Turkmenistan surrounding layered beaded and embroidered patches from the Kuchi tribes in Afghanistan; the center patch has a mirror. I've added frayed sari fabric and hand-twisted newspaper yarn from India, as well as a strand of vintage coins from Central Asia.
