"Nikolai" is based on a classic icon painting of St. Nicholas done in the Novgorod school. This piece was featured in the Fall 2018 issue of Somerset Studio magazine as part of an article done in collaboration with Lynne Perrella.
The original artwork was done on a canvas board measuring 11" x 14" x 1/4." The background features collage, stenciling, heat embossing, and acrylic paints and glazes. The figure has an original hand-drawn face and hands colored with soft pastels and colored pencils and the clothing was made using collage, brocade fabrics from India, trims, beads, and hematite semi-precious gemstone chips. The halo was made with more beads, fabric and rhinestones, collage, and acrylic paint.
All original artwork is carefully packaged for shipping, signed and dated with the name of the piece on the back.
